A Wonderful Holiday Weekend

One of the great things about not being in school or having kids in school or working in a school is that Labor Day weekend has no back-to-school connotation. Instead, it is just a last blast of summer long weekend. There were a couple of friends in town so the usual group got together for all sorts of fun. The highlights were a picnic on Governor's Island and going to the US Open.

My friend got us incredible seats at Louis Armstrong stadium at the Open (the second largest stadium there) and we saw some great tennis.

Williams sisters playing doubles. I caught a ball one of them hit and there is a streak of purple/pink on it from one of their skirts. Pretty cool souvenir!
